AIRBAG (DUNNAGE BAGS)

Airbags are a fundamental tool for blocking cargo during transport (in maritime containers, railway wagons, truck trailers).
They are inserted into empty spaces between cargo and filled with compressed air. They prevent cargo movement and absorb impacts.
Begni Group offers a complete range of Level 1 airbags, with AAR (Association of American Railroads) certification.

Woven Polypropylene Dunnage Bags secure the cargo from slipping and falling down or over. They must be positioned in spaces between goods or near the walls of containers and then filled with air. In this way, the empty space between cargo is eliminated and the forces that occur during transport can be absorbed. Level 1 PP bags are suitable for containers, road, rail and ship transport.

They are available in widths of 60, 90, 120, 150 cm.

Construction

The basic construction of any dunnage airbag is the combination of two major parts:

■ the inner layer (extruded polyethylene) that holds the compressed air.

■ the outer layer (polypropylene) that gives shape, stability and enormous resistance to the airbag. The resistance depends on the thickness of the material (level).

Level

“Level” is the official classification in terms of quality (robustness) of the airbag.

Association of American Railroads (AAR)

The AAR standard approval is an indicator of high product quality. All BEGNI Group COBRA® dunnage airbags are AAR verified.

Rapid Inflation Valve (Venturi)

Rapid inflation (and deflation) valves, compared to traditional valves, manage an enormous flow of air: the airbags fill much faster and no compressed air is wasted. (Compared to traditional valves, the airbag fills up 30 – 40% faster). They also allow repetitive use of the airbag thanks to the ease of deflation.

Inflation pressure

In accordance with the European standard, the safety factor is 3. (Nominal burst pressure / Inflation pressure).
The average pressure of use must not exceed 0.05 bar.
