How are EPL, EPCG, EPLG and EPC protectors made?
EPL and EPLG protections are made of a compact HMPE fiber fabric, to which Velcro is applied, so they can be applied to the slings via the Velcro opening.
EPC and EPCG protections are made of a compact CORDURA® fiber fabric, to which Velcro is applied, so they can be applied to the slings via the Velcro opening.
EPL, EPCG, EPLG and EPC protections are applied near the attachment points (hooks, pins, shackles), on corners, on sharp edges, increasing the life and safety of the slings.
EPL, EPCG, EPLG and EPC protections can be applied both to polyester slings (flat and round) and to high-performance round HMPE slings. For the latter, the choice of protections depends on the type of covering of the sling itself:
■ EPL and EPLG for slings with HMPE covering.
■ EPC and EPCG for slings with CORDURA® covering.
EPL, EPCG, EPLG and EPC
The EPLG and EPCG protections are designed to further improve the EP and EPC sleeves, thanks to a double layer construction. This construction distributes the tension on each layer, effectively extending the life of the upper layer. The EPLG and EPCG protections can be inverted and used on both sides, reducing wear and increasing the life of the protector.
Standard lengths
The EPL, EPCG, EPLG and EPC protections are made in standard lengths of 50, 100, 150, 200 cm. Custom lengths can be made.
A length of at least 8% of the length of the sling is recommended.
■ They comply with the EN1492-2 standard (“Reinforcements and protection against damage caused by edges and/or abrasion”).
